I would like to share my thoughts about how Jesus and others in the Bible used sun gazing in conjunction with prayer to manifest miracles. I was reading Thomas Ashley Farrand's interprtation of the Gayatri mantra where he states that the loka associated with the sun, swaha, means heaven. Then I remembered reading in the Bible that Jesus raised his eyes up to heaven, gave thanks or groaned, then performed a miracle. This is recorded in Matthew 14:19, the multiplication of loaves and fishes; in Mark 7:34, the healing of the man who was deaf and dumb, and John 11:41, the raising of Lazarus from the dead. I recently read on a sun gazing website that if one gives thanks to God while sun gazing then asks for a blessing, it will come. I tried doing that for a few days. Now I am chanting the Gayatri mantra. I wondered if I should go back to giving thanks and asking for a blessing and the thought occurred to me that by chanting the Gayatri mantra I am seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all things else will be added. The ending of the Gayatri mantra is a request to receive enlightenment and righteousness. Examples of people gazing up to heaven in prayer and receiving a blessing can be found in the Old Testament in Tobit 3:12-16; 2 Macchabees 15:34 and Daniel 4:31 and 13:35.
