I've had both the copper and the mirena IUD. The copper IUD was OK on my hormones, but I bled heavier each month and doubled over with cramps at any given time of the month. Unfortunately it didn't work quite as well as I'd hoped - I got pregnant! Now, I'm on the mirena. I spottted every day for four months after it was inserted, but now I don't even have a period. I'm constantly tired though. I mean bone tired where I don't have energy for anything. My sex drive is still pretty high. In terms of a spontaneous birth control, nothing beats the IUD. It just comes down to your own personal decision.Hope I helped.
