Re: Is fasting bad for your heart?

Well yes, but if your electrolyte situation is that bad, then you can also get rhythm problems without being on a fast. I'm talking about the average person here, that has adequate fat and other reserves. Not about someone that had perhaps already been restrictling severely on food of doubtful nutritious value or about someone that overeats and then wants to purge or work out like a maniac. I think that those people run a far greater risk of getting rhythm problems then someone's who's actually water fasting.

I myself have to be extra careful with this, as I have atrial tachycardia (= episodes of very fast heart beat, caused by an extra electrical pathway in the heart) and I have to watch my magnesium and calcium intake especially. However, I have never had any problems while water fasting. When I do get an attack, it's because I have been eating too much Sugar or other junk.

I appreciate that you want to warn people about the possible dangers of fastings, but you should also talk about the benefits, i.e. that for a very large majority, fasting is in fact beneficial to the heart (it gives it a rest as heart beat and blood pressure decrease, cleans up the plaque in the arteries, etc.).

I guess that you really don't believe that Water Fasting is safe and one thing that all experts seem to agree with is that if you are afraid of water fasting, then you should not do it. So a master cleanse is indeed a much better choice for you.
