Re: Need something new to try
Hello,
To determine the cause of the flareup, you want to think back to the original flareup (one year ago). Something significant happened to trigger the flareup a year ago. You probably had an idea at the first sign of the irritation/inflammation; but dismissed your instincts as insignificant. If you could think back to that time and try to recall what you thought may have triggered the skin reaction at that time, this would be of great help.
Your subsequent continued suffering after the first reaction was most probably a result of the medications that you were prescribed to care for your skin. Both elidel and protopic, besides listing a skin rash (in essence, eczema) as one of the side effects, have also been connected to causing cancer. Harmful side effects of steroid/corticosteroid medications for treating eczema is why I searched out natural alternatives for my nieces. As I have said many times before, why use harsh medications with harmful side effects, when you can achieve healing naturally.
For my nieces skin, we used the Burt's Bees Baby Bee skin care line for sensitive skin. The product line contains such ingredients as vitamin E, aloe, almond oil, and several other natural healing ingredients. For you, I recommend the Shikai skin care line. I recommend their shampoo, their moisturizing bath & shower gel which contains colloidal oatmeal (anti-itch/anti-oxidant) and aloe (also anti-inflammatory/anti-oxidant), and their Borage Dry Skin Therapy lotion (fragrance free) for skin rehydration. I also recommend chamomile tea before bedtime to provide anti-histamine/anti-itch relief throughout the night. In addition, you can add chamomile oil to your bath water. The only problems that you would have with using any of these products is if you found that you were allergic to a particular ingredient. In that case, and since there is such a huge variety of natural products from which to choose, you would simply choose another item from the long list of natural healing vitamins/herbs/oils. If you are located in the U.S., you can find the Shikai product line at Whole Foods Market (a national chain).
There is a natural eczema product line out of Australia that you may want to take a look at as well. They do export. The website is

The deficiencies that are represented with eczema flareup are as follows: beta carotene, zinc, quercetin, essential fatty acids (omega-3, omega-6, omega-9, & GLA), vitamin C, vitamin E, and magnesium. To replenish these necessary nutrients into the body and restore your immune health, you will need to a consume a diet rich in the foods that contain these essential nutrients. To help educate you in the types of foods that contain these essential nutrients, check out the wholehealthmd.com website ("healing eczema with what you eat" section).
Because your body is demonstrating a high level of toxins, it may be necessary for you to implement a cleanse as well. I recommend the All Natural Cleanse by Nature's Medicine for first timers. This is a comprehensive 3-part system that contains a fiber (soluble/insoluble) powder drink for colon cleansing, capsules for
parasite elimination (paranix), and a tea for bowel/kidney flushing called klenz tea. You can check this system out at the following website:

Getting back to identification of your allergen/irritant, did you move a year ago? Had you introduced any new household pets into your home? Have you checked for dust mites/bed mites? Is the water system in your home treated with chlorine or fluoride?
