Re: vegetarianism where do I start?
i would recommend "fit for life" by harvey and marilyn diamond in order to establish a foundation for your new lifestyle. the book is not only easy to read and informative but also very inspirational. it teaches the principles of natural hygiene which helps the body maintain a healthy state through proper food choices and combining, correct fruit consumption, respect of its natural cycles or rhythms and other related aspects.
i am a vegetarian and practice all of the recommendations in the book (and other books too). i also have my two young daughters (10 & 13) following the regimen (its a lifestyle eating regimen, not a diet so its perfect for kids). they are both active in sports and im in the gym over 2 hrs a day 5 days a week so we have more energy than we know what to do with. people at my workplace are always commenting on my physical fitness, energy and enthusiasm while they struggle to get through the day with coffee, energy drinks, sodas and junk food. i continually am mistaken for someone in late teens to twenty something which isnt too bad considering i just turned 40. adults and kids mistake me for an older brother to my two daughters all the time. you should see the reactions when i tell them how old i am and it kinda weirds me out sometimes. i am absolutely convinced that this lifestyle is the cause of all this.
in my honest opinion "fit for life" is probably one of the best books i've read so far. the only other book which has had a similar profound impact on me is "never be sick again" by raymond francis. although this book is aimed mostly at preventing and reversing sickness, it does substantiate and complement a lot of what is contained in "fit for life". because of the positive impact on me and my family's health, i continue to read every book i can get my hands on relating to natural/alternative health.
