Re: Babies' Mental Delay Tied to Moms' Vegan Diet
i think, if you do further, complete research, you WILL find that there are NO vegetarian sources of soluble B12. being a vegan for one year, losing hair, (probably due to heavy soy consumption) then going ovo-lacto upon moving to korea (it's quite difficult here), i've noticed a change. all other aspects of my diet remained unchanged. i'd love to think that being vegan is the healthiest choice, as i'm loathe to kill (even though you don't wield the knife, you still must be cognizant of it) an animal for food, i'm just not so sure anymore that being vegetarian is the best choice. i'm going to try adding wild alaskan salmon oil and raw organic eggs from free-range chickens into my diet. farmed fish are grain-fed, and that's part of the problem with eating meat. the animals have had their traditional diet changed to feed agro-business profits. another topic for another day, i suppose, but getting back to the B12 issue, i think it is one that really requires an unbiased approach. don't look for an "out" because you really want to believe that veganism is best. if you believe so, great. i did! but check and double-check your facts first. that's all. healthy eating!
