Another thing to consider

When we eat meat we are not just consuming proteins, fats etc we are also 'eating' (absorbing) the conciousness of the animals that we consume.

I have been a vegetarian for over 30 years (not for health reasons, I cared little about health until I started getting older and falling apart), but I still ate a little fish now and then. I have also been celibate for many years and rarely think about sex. One evening a few years ago I ate a small peice of salmon with my dinner and that night I had a wet dream (very rare for me). I realized that it was the sexuality of the fish that had caused my wet dream.

Animals have many thoughts such as fear and agression, hunger, sexuality, defending their territory etc. They like to butt and kick, scratch in the dirt, eat worms etc. I don't want those thoughts inside of me. I am striving for human conciousness, not animal conciousness.

I don't mean to be judgemental, but since you asked for other peoples opinions, I thought I would pipe in. My family and friends mostly all eat meat and I am not a crusader, but I just wanted to add my perspective to the discussion.

Regards
John
