Why is it so important to break a fast the right way?

I did a 24 day juice fast and broke it by eating a bologna sandwich. Then I had a few salads the next day and after that just regular food. I didn't die or get sick at all. So why is it so important? Have people died or something? Gotten so sick they wanted to die? Maybe it is harder on a person that is just water fasting, but to me when I was juice fasting, it wasn't that bad. The food stayed in me for 2 days I guess, but it didn't make me sick and everything seemed fine. I just wonder because I see so many people taking a week or so to break the fast and I was wondering if they are just wasting their time. I kinda liked the bologna sandwich after not eating for 24 days, lol!
