• Now that we know how internet and media is creating an extremely distorted picture of alternative medicine, it is fairly easy to understand why there are still people who choose to believe to "Quackbusters" and their overly paranoid websites.  Quackbusters are convinced that alt-med people are evil. They call alternative medicine sCAM.  Do you know what is the difference between paranoia and phobia?  The fear in paranoia is usually associated with the perceived malevolent intent of another person or persons.  People with paranoia are convinced that the causes of their fears are real and that their fears are rational, while adults with phobias know that the symptoms of fear or anxiety that they experience are excessive and irrational responses to essentially benign objects and situations.
  Quackbusters totally believe that majority of people involved in alternative medicine are bad, uneducated, stupid and are after your money (scammers).  At least majority of them believe so. If you would read quackwatch website, you would come to conclusion that if you use alternative medicine, it will increase your chances of dying or being seriously injured roughly 100 times!?
  
  Few days ago I joined a healthfraud mailing list (quackwatch mailing list), and in just a few days, I was able to read messages from at least 20 people who are overly paranoid about any and every form of alternative medicine.  Some of them are so paranoid, that they call naturopaths blood sucking parasites who are sucking blood from their patients until patients die.
  
  Here are few examples of humor from healthfraud list:
  • My aroma therapist stinks,
    my bowel cleansing therapist is full of sh-t!
    
    My acupuncturist keeps needling me,
    I don't see eye-to-eye with my iridologist,
    my graphologist can't read my writing,
    I feel manipulated by my chiropractor,
    my touch therapist won't keep her hands off me,
    I can't count on my numerologist,
    my homeopath doesn't give me much of anything,
    and my psychic healer makes me sick.
    
    I think my chiropractor is cracking up,
    my massage therapist is rubbing me the wrong way,
    I don't believe in my faith healer anymore,
    my channeler is on a different frequency.

Hear one side and you will be in the dark. Hear both and all will be clear.

Change the changeable, accept the unchangeable, and remove yourself
