Atopic dermatitis is a type of eczema. The words dermatitis and eczema are interchangeable. Eczema is the Greek word for dermatitis. There are many types of dermatitis or eczema. To name a few, atopic dermatitis, nummular eczema, allergic contact eczema and seborrheic eczema are some of the types of dermatitis or eczema. Dust mites, pet dander, or even pet mites can be eczema irritants. In your case, did you have the eczema reaction before the pet came into your life?
