you brought up a great point. we are not separated from god anymore. when jesus died, he opened the door to god's power through us, through his spirit, which is his power that raised jesus from the dead. that is why jesus said that we will do these things and greater, because the spirit of god can work lesser or greater through a believer because of the the atoning death of christ for our sins. god said there is no other way, except through his son, to be 'connected' to the creator, and receive eternal life (resurrected by god's power). we may be talking about the same connection, however, do not overlook jesus as the catalyst for this internal power, and the spirit of god actually working that power through us.
