This is an excellent question and a good challenge.


Proper technique should be:

Ground lead of the scope should be connected to the ground electrode as a reference point.

The positive lead should be connected to a point on the body that is away from either electrode but should be a point of interest. Simce the most difficult and important place to reach is the abdomen, we used the area immediately above the appendix. We also tried various other points with little or no detectable difference. Some of the points were above the heart, above the kidneys in the back, and above the liver.
