Hey, the tofu was no "staple" for the Asians as it is used by American vegetarians these days. A few little bits stirred in other foods or by itself, compared to a large piece for one meal? There are different schools of thought, one being to avoid all soy. Another is to use it as used traditionally, which is fine - use fermented soy products but only use them in MODERATION which means it is not the "main dish" because that was not how it was traditionally used.
