Re: Trolling for a friend
I really don't see Jesus judging sinners at all? If Jesus ever had a reason to judge anyone though it would have been the religious folks who hung him on a tree and he didn't judge them either. In fact Jesus forgave the people who persecuted him and he even fogave me and you. Jesus came to let us know who God(Love)is(Love) and the nature of that love. Jesus told his followers to love their God with all of their hearts and mind. Love is the key ingredient to that relationship. If our heart is not full of love then how can we say we are filled with the Holy Spirit? If our minds are not full of love then how can we say we can say we are Christians? And how are we supposed to act in this world? Jesus commanded his followers to love their neighbors as themselves. Their neighbors are those people who do not think or believe as themselves. Jesus said that if we love only those in our family or tribe then we do no better than those who are not his followers. Jesus wants us to love those who hate them and scorn them. Jesus wants our hearts to be full of love but if we never take that challenge on then we as Christians are looking in the wrong direction. If I look for an enemy behind every bush and around every corner then I am looking for an enemy in the wrong place. The enemy is our own self-righteous judgemental thoughts and our own beliefs that are contrary to God's unconditional love. God wants our love...
The battle to please God is not about works but an inside job. Jesus came to lighten our burden and give us the Holy Spirit so that we could do greater things than even he could do? If we want to yoke our neighbors and enslave them to the law again then we are certainly not operating within the Holy Spirit? And what is that Holy Spirit but the Spirit of God in our life? The Holy Spirit was certainly not putting back on the law over our lives?
I am more certain than ever that Jesus(Yahshua) wants us to love unconditionally and that is the opposite of trolling for enemies.
It is all about relationships and loving relationships are relationsips built on trust. I trust that God loves even me and every sinner and even you. My mission is to spread that good news.
If I keep working out that tree stuck in my eye(my judgemental and hypocritical attitudes) first then I will never get around to judging the speck in my neighbor's(non-christians)eyes and I will never find an enemy in anyone else but only a friend.
