Re: BED-Extremely Exhausted

I'm just starting BED, so I'm no expert, but this post and others about exhaustion caught my attention. I have been working on another health problem for some time - adrenal exhaustion - and experienced the same phenomenon with that. When I started treating the adrenals, I became exhausted. The explanation I believe (most of this was given by a healthcare practitioner with www.chronicfatigue.org) was that adrenals are fatigued by the chronic dysbiosis, and when you start correcting that dysbiosis (such as with the BED), more energy can be directed to healing the adrenals, but when adrenals start healing they actually lower their output for a time. This usually lasts for a few months, depending on the individual. This lower adrenal output of course causes an increase in fatigue. This is well known in the 'adrenal exhaustion' community, but apparently not so well known in the Candida world... The best thing to do according to the adrenal folks is to get more rest, pace yourself, don't push yourself through the fatigue because that will prolong it, but rather take it as a sign that you need to lower stress and activity levels (mental and physical) as much as possible until the adrenals are healed enough that you start getting more natural energy. If you give up the BED (or whatever approach has triggered adrenal healing), the adrenals will not heal, and they will start functioning again at an exhausted level - you will feel more energy but it will be false, and lead to much more trouble in the future...
