Re: Common procedure,ESWL, causes a rare complication

Carly, what a sad story. I'm glad you're doing better. I'm a stone former too. I had an ESWL several months ago. I had a hugh stone of 6mm. It was too big to pass. My ESWL was a pleasant experience. I woke up feeling really good. Big and small chunks of the stone started passing and they didn't cause pain. I couldn't believe the size of the big chunk. I wondered why they didn't hurt as they passed, when normally other small stones cause excruciating pain when they pass. Anyway, before my procedure I asked my doctor if there was any danger to it. He said it is possible but it is rare that anything bad could happen. Thanks for sharing your story. I hope we don't have to have it done again.
