Re: Caregiver Frustrations? - bad exp. with healer - was it me or was it her or was it NWO?
There are thousands of good herbalists and naturopaths and other wonderful alternative health people out there. Find another.
Although everyone has their own comforts, ideas, and opinions, some general starting points may be to look for someone who is open to new ideas and newly discovered knowledge. Along with good qualifications and references, look for one who is not in it for their own ego to push their own agenda. Look for an open mind and an open heart. I'm sure other people can offer even more things to consider or look for.
Never stop questioning. It *is* YOUR health, after all.
A good healer (I use that term in the old fashioned way) will be interested in helping you heal yourself. They'll be happy to answer any questions they can. They'll be pleased that you are so actively interested in learning how to heal yourself.
A good healer is one who is actively learning and expanding their own knowledge all the time. One who is interested in hearing of new techniques and new studies. One who will honestly tell you "I don't know, but I'll see what I can find out."
A good patient is patient, but not a doormat. They ask questions and they take notes. They are active participants in their healing.
There is a difference between asking and demanding. There are ways of bringing up new information or information you have which may run counter to what they say. Ask for reasons, for clarification, for understanding.
Ultimately, the decision is *yours* and a good healer knows this. They may try to dissuade you from something they feel is harmful or not good for you, but they understand that is the extent of what they can do.
A good healer understands that they are working in a partnership - and so does a good patient.
As far as why it "keeps happening" to you, we tend to continue to go through lessons until we 'get it', many times in multiple areas of our lives, not just one. Where else do you have similar problems? What patterns do you see in those problems? What part do you play in those patterns? What do you think you're supposed to be learning?
