If your experience weren't bad enough, get a copy of your medical record. You might be horrified to see what your doctor wrote about you. And this permanent electronic record entry could follow you around the rest of your life! By the way, the desk clerk, nurse and others could be reading it every time you show up for an appointment.If you belong to a large hospital, literally hundreds of staff can read your medical notes with only so much as your name to click on if they want to.
Lincoln Stein writes in his article, "Medical Record: Promises and Threats" "I have encounted several cases in which hospital employees have used the clinical information system inappropriately tolook up data on recently admitted celebrities, friends, relatives of friends, and friends of relatives"
