Yes you're wrong, Zule, sorry! There is an awful lot of dogma associated with reiki.

It's more than possible to attune yourself to the energy. For more on this go here and read more. You'll find plenty of information regarding self attunement and the new history based on fairly recent discoveries of Usui sensai's personal notes and work books.

My personal feelings are people find it difficult to accept how simple reiki is and add this and that, create 'new' versions etc. Reiki translates as universal lifeforce energy, or there abouts and means simply that :-) I feel our ego driven minds add 'fluff' and noise to make us feel in control of somethings simple and beautiful.
