Dating? or Testing?

Why dating is so difficult?

Some context: I am from south America. I had had several dates there, and they where usually fun. Now here in the U.S., I have had three dates that have been incredibly boring, stressful and formal.

Why is this like this? I do not know why the guys I have dated here put so much effort on having the perfect date that it turns out to be so stressful. I had my last date this Tuesday. I was relaxed and happy when I left home, and when I came back, I was tired, surprised and confused.

It was raining and the guy was not wearing his glasses ( Later I learned he needs them to see!!). I was so nervous he could not find a parking place even though there were plenty!!!

I wanted to talk a little before dinner, but the waiter was rushing me to order. My date did not want to drink wine but the waiter brought a cup of wine for him and he drank it even though he did not want…

He did not eat his food, and I was so surprised.

I apologized because he was not charismatic and fun as he used to be.

I was so surprise. I think he is a really nice guy, and I did not understand why he was so nervous.

Why is this like this. Know I do not know what to do. ….

Is there any RULES OF DATING guide that I am missing?
I have felt that dating is not about knowing each other and having fun. I have felt it is like a test.
