Re: response to stoneface
Hi,
I had sudden arrytmia two weeks ago. My symptoms were similar to Yours. I had muscle spasms and also restless legs prior to arrytmia.
Doctors wants to treat symptons but i want to find out the cause.
Magnesium deficiency is a strong possibility as magnesium plays very important role in muscle control and nerve system.
I have started to correct my magnesium level in two fronts.
Taking supplements may not be enough or necessarily the right way to get the level up. Increasing food intake with good magnesium content will give "right" kind of magnesium that body can easily use.
Some supplements have relatively poor bioavailability in our system.
Secondly, usual method of measuring the level is testing the serum magnesium. (Blood test)
However most of the body's magnesium (99%) is in our bones and muscle tissues. Only 1% is in fluids between the cells, like in serum.
Therefore short therm use of supplement may not increase the whole body's level very fast.
It has taken long time to get the deficiency, so it will take some time to correct it.
If we take too much magnesium the excess will disappear in urine
if kidneys function normally.
I hope this gives You something.
There are always many possibilities, that can cause similar symptons.
We know that 80-90% of people have magnesium deficiency. So taking more will not do any harm.
Good luck
