Re: 1000 U.S. soldiers dead - small by comparison
That was a respectful rebuttal, I liked it!
Its true they are gruesome. I can't imagine half the things people do to each other in that place, both sides are doing awful things well beyond warfare, combat, or occupation.
But beheadings! To do it is, well, forget it.Or suicide bombongs... what desperation... I guess its done to scare the enemy. All of it is, even the torture - they don't really want information, its allways suspect when achieved under torutre anyhow. Soldier [incl terrorists] morale can win or lose wars.
As for the coalition not intentionally killing civilians, its pretty close. I saw a woman on TV yesterday who lived four blocks from where cluster bombs were dropped, and heavy bunker busters too. Many iraqi families were in the vicinities of where the Saddam palaces or government buildings were, which was the target of the big bombs at the start of the invasion by the coalition.
We never did see any of that on TV, not one shot of an ordinary Iraqi during the bombing, with cameras right in her home. I do not think many of us have imaginged what that would be like. Maybe someday we will see these shots, al Jazeera would have had them rolling.
Its like a jet plane crashing into your neighbors house!!
So their desperation is showing. The played it smart and layed low while the coalition spent itself silly, and now they are coming out fighting. You didn't seem to notice the idea of being an army where no army can exist, this is the only way they can do it, and we call them terrorists.

I have to agree with you that they do kill innocent civilians, and I do not really understand that.
Are the dead ones just a different faction, like shiites, and the Sunnis killed them, like a civil war?
I heard that sometimes they are people working for the Americans, "traitors" . But Americans are not killing their OWN civilian innocents at least!
The Iraqi civilians are getting it from both sides, and they are the ones who are just people trying to get along in life, not fundamentalists, not radicals, not violent, jsut hungry and cold and wanting peace. Thats what most of the Iraqis are! Every peoples in the world are mostly just that, not political at all.We are lead to believe that they are a bunch of wild animals, and we have to keep in mind that it is just a few,
maybe 10%?* ,who are fighting.
How can we help them? this doesn't seem to be working...
Karlin.
* ps - america has 12% of its citizens in jail, maybe thats where we keep our 'wild animal' population?
