Re: 1000 U.S. soldiers dead - small by comparison

I have to respectfully disagree. I'll preface this up front by stating that I see the war in Iraq as a war against Terrorism in the broad sense, not against Iraq or the Iraqi people. That was part of the way the the war was couched in the first place.

Freedom fighters? I know you're against the war, but remember what these animals are doing. Remember what they did to those contractors in Fallujah? Remember all of the kidnappings, so many of which ended in beheadings or gun fire to the head, all videotaped for public consumption? Remember all those people killed in that big mosque bombing? Remember the Baghdad hotel bombing? The list goes on and on. These acts were not directed at just the US and coalition, but mostly at ordinary Iraqi citizens. These are not freedom fighters, dude, they're terrorists, many of whom are from foreign countries on jihad against the US. Also, unlike these terrorists, the coalition does not intentionally kill innocent people. Dropping bombs is always going to be at least somewhat indiscriminate, but it's target based, not people based. I'm sure you disagree with me with that though.

I can understand the typical Iraqi wanting the US out, even passionately, but come on. Iraqis never had self-determination in the first place. They're going to get it for the first time through democratic elections in January. Don't confuse al Sadr's militia with former regime loyalists and foreign fighters. Although I think al Sadr is an opportunist of the highest order and is guilty of intimidation and high crimes of his own, he at least veils himself in Iraqi nationalism.
