I recommend 2+ tablespoons per day. Basically I cook breakfast/lunch in coconut oil, so that gets me 2-4 tablespoons of oil. Eating it neat can become unpalettable as the taste can be quite strong, thats why I cook with it.
If you wanted you could melt it and mix it in a drink.
Coconut oil contains lauric acid, capryllic acid and capric acid, as well as other minor ingredients. So capryllic acid is one of the components of coconut oil.
All coconut oil is good, but the more unrefined the better.
