Re: Interesting Forum...

From a guy:

First, I can say you are to be commended for standing behind your convictions (though I disagree with your reasons).

Secondly, let me say this: unlike how society would like us to believe, to have sex or to not have sex is not controlled by the mind within men. It is governed by chemical reactions with hormones called testosterone derivatives. A man cannot shut off his need for sex any more than a person can shut off the need to eat or breath (unless, of course, we completely block the chemical reactions which would then interfere with many other physical systems such a muscle building, mood, and so on).

Thirdly, it is well documented now though studies that people who have sex regularly are well balanced, happy, stable people who typically age better than those who abstain. Sex reduces stress, releases hormones which help stabilize our moods and repair our bodies, and so on.

It is my belief that religion here in America has attempted to turn sex into a "necessary evil" against all bioligical reason. Sex is a wonderful gift, and like everything else, it should be enjoyed in balanced fashion. In fact, the key to life is balance.

As a parting comment, I'm not sure I'd want a woman who can abstain "indefinitely" from sex because this could be a glimpse of what married life would be like. I would see this as a significant concern. Regular and frequent sex throughout a marriage is important!

Anyway, that's another viewpoint for you.
