Can Acupuncture unleash unknown pain?

To date i have had five acupuncture and chiro treatments from the same practitioner. I had gone to him for sprained swollen ankle, he put a few needles around the right foot and massaged that foot. There was reduction in pain though not in swelling (not much swelling, it has been six weeks now).
I then mentioned that I had itching in the anus so on the fourth treatment he placed a needle in both hands. He also gave me light massage for my neck stiffness and then he gave a light tug so I heard a crack.
After that treatment both my wrist joints started hurting and also there is pain in my left hand on my palm on the thumb side just above the wrist joint and both thises joints are hurting, also when typing (I never had these pains before). My neck became so painful that I was wishing I never had a neck.... After the long weekend I called him so he said he had to see me. I was reluctant to go again to him but thought I should give him the benefit. He massaged my neck and again placed needles on both my hands and my right foot. I asked him how long he had practised acupuncture and he said 15 years. He is 41 years old. Incidentally because I am thin, everytime he places needles they hurt me.

Are these pain the result of my body healing? Even though I did not have those pains before?

I feel I should go to him at least a couple more times before stopping altogether... am I correct? These sessions are expensive... and I feel I do not want to pay for getting something I did not have before...
