Low Back Pain and Migraines

I have a question regarding low back pain and their possible relationship to my newly acquired migraines.

I have had lower back pain for a year. My MRI shows degenerative disc disease and broad base bulging disc at L5-S1. My neurologist doesn't think this has anything to do with why my back hurts. He says it's "just low back pain that has no cause". i wish I had the option to get a second opinion. I do not have acces to a chiropracter either. Which is frustrating because I've heard they do wonders if you find the right one.

Now, I also have pain in my pirformis muscle (the muscle that runs along the upper portion of your buttocks) and running down the outside of both things. I used to have numbness/tingling and zinging running down the back of my left leg to my foot on somedays. The nerve medication I'm on has stopped that.

Then last month I developed migraines out of the blue. I have them 3 times a week and they are causing lots of missed work days and plenty of trips to the ER even though I have meds to decrease the frequency of the terrible things.

Has anyone heard of any research regarding a possible relationship? I know that prblems in the cervical spine can lead to migraines but I'm wondering about lumbosacral connections...
