I've been told many times that each person in a dream represents an aspect of the dreamer, that you are everyone you dream about. I sometimes have trouble applying this to my own dreams, but it's certainly something to think about - two sides of yourself being opposed. It's interesting that you say you are opposed to war, although the dream itself is not about war... when I was reading it, it made me think of war, of soldiers committing acts that would under normal circumstances repulse them.
I've seen the number nine before to refer to wholeness (108: 1+0+8=9), and also to devine judgement.
