Re: Onion Allergy & Inflammation
I think what is confusing you is that the allergist did not "diagnose" an allergy to onions.
Allergy testing, especially for foods is very unreliable.
food sensitivities caused by many chemical factors do not show up on an allergy test either.
I know it is hard to accept that something being hailed as "good for you" is hurting you, but that is the way it really is. I can not eat onions, garlic, soy or milk in any form, all of which are supposed to have health benefits. Don't rely on allergy tests.
You might try cooked green onions. They tend to be the safest for me.
Elimination Diet testing is the most accurate form of diagnosing a
food allergy or sensitivity. Take it off your diet for a while and see if the reaction goes away. Add it back to your diet a week later and see if it comes back. (If the reaction is less obvious, more time is needed for avoidance and trial)
Watch out for reactions becoming more serious if you don't avoid the cause. I now get serious colon problems from allergens/sensitivities when I used to not get such a serious response.
