Remarks - First I'll apologize for the 953 page novel you're about to read. Enjoy! I have devoted tonight to getting a grip on this diet. At least for the part of understanding the PH level and the foods one should eat. Diet today is still my biggest hurdle. I have come a long way from meat and starch only, to fruits and vege's and occasionally pasta, chicken or tuna. But there are still numerious questions regarding sugars, Ph levels and a balanced, healthy and healing meal.

I want to corner Lapis for my new task, but rather it is from all the remarks and comments, of which, are extremely appreciated - EXTREMEMLY. The good and bad remarks. All the remarks help me and each other and that is why all of us are here.

Hense forth, Lapis recently replied a remark to me labeled "alkanine foods". This remark is now under the "R-recommended messages". The links in this post were 'very' helpful - thanks Lapis! I recommend a visit, to at least the home page, of each.

My findings:
From the website - http://www.mayyoubehappy.com/acidalkaline.html
"All foods, when metabolized by the body, produce a residue that is either acid or alkaline. This is quite critical because the body must maintain the blood stream at a constant pH level between very narrow limits of 7.35 and 7.45 (which is alkaline). Outside those limits the body cannot maintain life."

"Consequently, the pH of other systems in the body is sometimes adjusted (through a "borrowing" of minerals) in order to ensure the stability of the all-important bloodstream. This can and does, however, adversely affect these other systems and the overall well-being of the body in general." (This to me would also help explain why synthetic vitamins are not good.)

"It's worth noting that the normal pH for all the systems and fluids in the body, except for the stomach, is alkaline. Yet many of our commonly-eaten foods produce acidic by-products a process which, carried to excess, produces acidosis in the body." (Great - go figure.)

"Fresh unrefined fruits and vegetables, which contain an abundance of the alkalizing minerals of calcium, magnesium, potassium and iron, among a host of others, more than compensate for the acidic end-products of metabolism and thus create an alkalizing overall effect on the body." (HMMM)

"In contrast, refined carbohydrates such as White Sugar , white flour, white rice, corn syrup and so on, by the very process of concentration and fractionation are stripped or severely depleted of their minerals and thus produce an acidifying effect. This is not true of the Sugar in fresh raw fruits, because their natural Sugar is accompanied by an abundance of minerals in organic form, so that their effect in general is strongly alkalinizing. As a side note, fruits which might seem acidic such as oranges, lemons, grapefruits, etc. are actually alkalinizing to the body because of their strong mineral content." (AH-HA!)

From the website - http://home.bluegrass.net/~jclark/alkaline_foods.htm
"An acidic balance will: decrease the body's ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients, decrease the energy production in the cells, decrease it's ability to repair damaged cells, decrease it's ability to detoxify heavy metals, make tumor cells thrive, and make it more susceptible to fatigue and illness" (This isn't good.)

"To maintain health, the diet should consist of 60% alkaline forming foods & 40% acid forming foods.
To restore health, the diet should consist of 80% alkaline forming foods & 20% acid forming foods.

Generally, alkaline forming foods include: most fruits, green vegetables, peas, beans, lentils, spices, herbs and seasonings, and seeds and nuts.

Generally, acid forming foods include: meat, fish, poultry, eggs, grains, and legumes." This is a start.

"An acidic body is a sickness magnet."

"Highly Alkaline Forming Foods

Baking soda, Sea Salt , mineral water, pumpkin seed, lentils, seaweed, onion, taro root, sea vegetables, lotus root, sweet potato, lime, lemons, nectarine, persimmon, raspberry, watermelon, tangerine, and pineapple"

"Highly Acid Forming Foods

Tabletop sweeteners like (NutraSweet, Spoonful, Sweet 'N Low, Equal or Aspartame), pudding, jam, jelly, table salt (NaCl), beer, yeast, hops, malt, sugar, cocoa, white (acetic acid) vinegar, processed cheese, ice cream, beef, lobster, pheasant, barley, cottonseed oil, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, fried foods, soybean, and soft drinks, especially the cola type. To neutralize a glass of cola with a pH of 2.5, it would take 32 glasses of Alkaline Water with a pH of 10" (this last sentence is mind-plowing)

From this website - http://www.goss.com/ihcs/importance_of_an_alkaline_diet.htm
"A good measure of average body pH is easily obtained by using pH paper to assess the pH of your first morning urine. Ideally, the first morning urine is between 6.4 (slightly acidic) and 6.8 (slightly alkaline), which indicates that the overall cellular pH is appropriately alkaline."

"Another way to check pH is through saliva (also using pH paper). You should check your morning saliva pH immediately after arising, before you think about or eat your breakfast, and while in a calm state of mind. (Even thinking about food changed your pH.) After a meal, your saliva should normally become alkaline. Checking saliva pH after a meal can indicate whether or not this normal mechanism is intact. Optimal range for first morning saliva pH is 6.8 to 7.2." (This site does have lower Ph level ranges than the previous two.)

Found on this site - http://www.keytohealthclinic.com/alkalinediet.html
"When an alkaline environment is maintained in the body, metabolic, enzymatic, immunologic, and repair mechanisms function at their best." (my new goal)

My conclusion:
As for the bodies PH concern - A diet of fruit and vege will provide the appropriate PH levels and is the preferred diet for such. Protein raises the acid level in the body. Eating non-flesh protein will be less acidic than eating flesh protein. (flesh meaning meats)

Feeling - I'll put my personal remarks here today. Today was a big deal for me with food. Sugars and now PH had me stumped with what to eat that I found myself in a familiar place - not eating. Tomorrow should be better. I am going to focus on finding the difference between complex and simple sugars and their effects on cancer.

I did not take the olive oil today for the mop-up program. Today's lunch did a number on me. Lets just say my body cannot take anymore olive oil today. I felt like I was doing a liver cleanse - whew! No I mean WHEW!! Peeing from the pooper has that "this is very wrong, sorta neet, kinda feeling".

The gym was better. I still don't know what caused that bad day yesterday. I did not make the full 20 minute cardio today - 15 min. But I was able to get a great workout in. Actually, hmm - The night before that bad day at the gym I had almost the same meal I had today. It didn't have the sane effect on me as it did today and it was a different restaurant. It did have my gut all up in knots though. We'll see how tomorrow goes at the gym. Growth is large, hard and sensitive.
