whats on walnuts and how do i get rid of it?

i just bought some non-organic walnuts at sams club and after eating organic exclusively the past couple of years, well all i can say is they are not fit to eat. i triple rinsed them and then soaked them and they tasted alright but they still gave me an ache in my gut like arsenic poisoning or something. is there anything else i can do? god, do people eat these??????
