but of course, if natural selection really DID make new variations, wandering away from the basic species.....then there would logically be no distinct species! Yet, instead, all we find in life today and throughout history are definite types of creatures. (this defies all evolutionary logic)

What do you mean by this? There would only be one species? Or millions with no one being the same? Each of these is asanie, though.
