perhaps i can shed some light on your pondering...

if i ask you if you believe in God... and you say... yes of course...
and i ask you if you believe in Jesus... and you say... yes of course...
then my next question would be... do you really...???
or... are you merely giving lip service...

if one truly believes in God... as many us profess to believe... then it would be reasonable to assume that one would wish to be more like God... one would wish aquire the like characteristics... if our idea of God is that God is good... then we should seek to be good... or if one believes that God is everywhere... in everything... and especially within us... then it would stand to reason that one would at least wish to be more God conscious... and the same would be true with Jesus... if one truly believed one would be more inclined to become more like Jesus... wouldn't you agree...???

and what if you are Jesus... and have been so conditioned... misdirected and confused... that you just haven't had that moment of clarity... or an awakening... so suddenly you wake up and you realize that you are "JESUS"... how would you act then... and would you accept all the beliefs you presently have as "TRUTHS"... indeed i think not... you would "KNOW"... and the truth would set you free... and a free man is free to think for himself...

it's really easy to simply give lip service... "oh sure i believe"... when what we don't realize is that we are loyal to a concept we have... and this concept is usually one that has been instilled by someone elses ideas or beliefs... and truly not our own... yet when we say... "oh yes... sure i believe"... have you even bothered to give thought to what you believe... no... it's merely lip service...
it's so much easier to talk the talk than it is to walk the walk... i would venture a guess that the vast majority of "so called christians" are not christ like at all... and therefore shouldn't be walking around and smuggly saying... "oh sure i'm a christian... i believe in christ"... but... do you really...!!!

it's really hard for me to relate to many of the stories... or beliefs of "so called christians"... because a lot of it is merely superstitous lunacy... used to instill fear and control... and it really cracks me up when i hear someone say... "God hates this... or that"... and many can tell you exactly how God feels... and what he thinks about anything... which is even more insane than it would be for me to believe that i can tell what you are thinking... seems i failed the course in "mind reading 101"...

anyway... this is my take on what the person might have been referring to...

a couple of mottos' that i try to live by are...

"to thine 'SELF' be true"...

and...

"greater is he that conquers himself than he that conquers the world"...

i think life is a very personal experience... one in which only you wil know the truth... but... that is of course... only if you seek... (and are not lead around by the nose by the untruths of others)...
