You have it backwards. I mean I could quit having faith in God and put my faith in myself. That's what I meant by using satan as an example.

We love God because He loved us first. We show our love for Him by being faithful.

If I say I love my wife and then am not faithful, my love is worthless.

We don't keep the law to be saved, but because we are saved. That way we will stay saved.
You can't make money your god and live a selfish life and stay saved. It's this type of thing that we must always work against. The ten commandments are our guide to success in this work. It's a never ending battle.
