I know how you feel, because you have a love for everyone it is hard to watch hurtful things go on. It is good you have a couple days off to take a "mental break" as well as the physical one, you can use the to time to refresh yourself with the good things of God too.
In answer to your question about praying repentence, I wonder if praying for conviction from the Holy Spirit would be appropriate in this situation? Just yesterday at our church a preacher was saying how that condemnation always brings you down, but conviction from the Holy Spirit brings you to a place where you can go up. The Holy Spirit always convicts us in such a way that it helps us, not destroys or harms us by tearing us down. I've been so thankful for the leading and conviction of the Holy Spirit. I tell the Lord "thank you for showing me that, and for being so gentle in your rebuke." I have been harshly scolded in times past by humans, and it was such a sweet revelation to me to learn that the Lord's conviction is not that way.
