lonely because food is too good a friend

I never go to this forum so I feel like I was sent here for a purpose. Hopefully this information will help you or someone else with an eating problem.

I used to binge eat and be 240 pounds. Later, when I decided to lose weight I found the "perfect" diet which was bulimia. Eventually I went down to 83 pounds which is, of course, anorexia. Throughout this rollercoaster ride I prayed for help (just let me have one day where I'm not hungry). I pushed aside my friends and isolated myself and didn't work because I was too consumed by eating.

Finally, I was led to an eating disorder research hospital in New York which is associated with Columbia University. They are FREE (and eating disorder treatments typically cost $1,000 per day). I was there for 100 days and went from 83 to a healthy 128 (I'm 5'7"). I'm not going to lie and say that it's easy but it is definetly worth it.

It took me about 1 or 2 months after applying to be accepted.
Without a job, however, I couldn't afford a flight to NY. Delta Airlines has a program where they donate free airline tickets to people for medical reasons. They got me to the hospital for free. God worked his miracles every day in my recovery. I made life-long friends while there. I have friends in all parts of the country now and each one of us felt that God touched us during recovery. It's almost a religious experience when you are healed from such a severe eating disorder. Check it out. Don't let the distance (or the name of the hospital) deter you from getting help.
