Re: They say I need a root canal. Can I heal my tooth naturally instead?
Nobody can definitely say
root canals will cause problems. There is alot of conflicting and anecdotal information, but sometimes, you can get into trouble following somebody else's unproven opinions.
The need for a
root canal should be based the presence of a dead nerve and formation of an abscess around the root of a tooth. There are other reasons for root canals, but the presence of infection is a sign of a clear need for the nerve to be taken out, either by extracting the tooth, or taking the nerve out of the tooth (
root canal therapy).
Getting rid of the infection via
Antibiotics or alternative therapies, is a short term solution, as the source (the dead nerve), will result in recurrent flare ups of pain, eventually. Worst case scenario, is death, as facial veins lack valves to prevent the backflow of blood and toxins into the brain . (again, this is worst case scenario)
