Re: Strange taste and ill health after root canal treatment

Hi

Thanks for responding!

Its good to share experiences like this, all to often people don’t listen and don’t take you seriously. I am becoming very disillusioned with the whole of the medical profession. I have now seen 3 different dentists at may practice, my GP, 2 ENT consultants and most recently 2 dentists at Birmingham Dental Hospital. The later have just given me a bite guard because they think I am grinding my teeth. This is ridiculous since grinding hasn’t been a problem for the first 32 years of may life, my problems started approx. 8 months ago after a root canal!!!

My frustration stems from the fact that all the people I have seen, supposedly experts, do not even seem to be aware of some of the issues discussed in this forum let alone take them seriously. There are obviously other people suffering with similar symptoms after having root canal treatment and it defies belief that all the people I have seen haven’t come across similar cases and/or can’t make a connection between the ‘sickness’ and the treatment. All they want to do is take an x-ray, and if they can’t see anything then there can’t be a problem as far as they’re concerned. Why does it either have to be an abscess visible on xray or no infection? Why no grey area?

I’m still having my problems. I only have mild discomfort so pain is not a problem. I still get tingling on that side of my face and mild headaches. My main problem is the tinnitis and a real lack of mental clarity (some call it brain fog). Over the last couple of months I have also started getting a lot of stomach problems, namely indigestion, feeling bloated and nausea, I’m sure this is related and due to whatever it is I can taste draining from that root canalled tooth.

Apologies for the rant, I’m sorry I don’t have any answers for yourself but I’m very interested to hear how you get on and what sort of advice you are getting from the medical profession. Like most of us posting on this forum we’re looking for answers. Personally I’m not sure what my next move is – I think I will have to go and locate a holistic dentist, who will probably want to take the tooth out. I don’t really want to do this against the wishes of my dentist(s). It would be a disaster to have the tooth out and still have the problems which is what I am really afraid of.

Thanks for reading
