Questioning "normal bony growths" in mouth

A few years ago, I developed three bumps in my mouth, one on the roof of my mouth, and two below my lower teeth, inside, one below each bicuspid. I went the doctor fearing that I had some kind of mouth cancer or something. The doctor told me they were “normal bony growths”. I haven’t been to a dentist since, as I have otherwise perfect teeth with no cavities, and don’t really trust dentists. I still have the “bony growths” and now wonder if they are really that “normal” and what caused them. Could they be “lost” wisdom teeth? I only grew one, so maybe the three others started growing in the wrong places? Could they be some kind of calcium or mineral deposits? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
