Re: My Thoughts On Alkalizing and Health, Cleansing and Healing In General
I am not an expert on Candida, but I would think I would lean toward the non-sweet vegetables and fruits while battling the overgrowth. My Naturopath assures me that fruit sugars are OK as long as they are not eaten in excess. He also says to avoid sweet fruit juices and rely on whole fruits since the fiber will slow down the absorption of sugar. My problem though is insulin resistance, so I'm not sure how much of that advice would also apply to you. I would think that limiting sweet fruits and veggies to less than 20% of your diet and increasing proteins might be best for you until you get the overgrowth under control. Most raw fruit are alkalizing meaning they are digested into an alkaline ash. This can get confusing, but some acidic foods metabolize into alkaline ash that alkalizes the body and some foods like meats and dairy leave an acid forming ash. The human body is so much more complex than we usually think.
I am hoping to try the pineapple and pumpkin seed cleanse myself before to long. I have a history of tapeworms.
Fruits in and of themselves will not hurt you, but will probably not bring about a cure either. A cleansing diet that includes a good green drink might be helpful. Have you ever used a super food or green drink? I use a product called Green Max from Swanson Vitamins that is helping me stay alkaline and providing nourishment.
Hopefully, others with more experience with Candida can give you more and better advice.
