minerals filterd out of maple syrup

first off thanks for the good post there CF.

maple syrup is always filtered. during this process the minerals are purposely removed, this is because minerals taste bitter and thus filtering them out gives the syrup a sweeter taste which is good for sales but bad for nutrition minded folks like us.

bs mollases on the other hand is the after affects of the filtering process of sugar. its whats left over.

so if you could get your hands on what is left over from the maple syrup filering process that might be something awewsome. but i think it might be contaminated, due to the chemicals they use during filtering process, but not really sure.
