Re: can we have fruit or not?
Hi,
well you're right on the money here. Except there actually isn't such a universal answer. Some fruits are actually alkalizing and thus encouraged as part of an alkalizing diet. The ones that I know of are limes, fresh lemon, tomato (raw, not cooked, cooked becomes acidifying as far as I know), avocado (also a very good source of protein and good fats, plus a large calorie source 305 cal. in a medium fruit), fresh coconut (not in a bag or sweetened), sour cherry, and unripe banana (no spots, and still plenty of green). With all of these it's best to go organic if you can, and try to stick to fruits in their season. As for all the other fruits,
Watermelon and grapefruit are just barely acidifying, and then they get worse from there. The worst that i know of it rose hips, which just barely beats out pineapple for most acidifying. However, they are both less than half as acidifying as say pork. While you are trying to regain balance it is important to stick predominantly with alkalizing foods, including fruits. Try to shoot for a diet that is 80% alkalizing. This still leaves room for part of your diet to be acidifying, and fruits can be a part of that, but as was said in the last post, take it in moderation, and in season. I hope this covers the question. Take care, Mike
