Re: thank you... (((wrenn)))... ;-)
Thanks WRENn
I wholeheartily agree with you.
When I finally got to stop drinking and lost the compulsion I was then able to start getting myself back to health. I took up yoga, walking long distances. Went for acupuncture treatment, started seeing a herbalist on a regular basis. did a years rebirthing. As much as possible cleaned up my diet drinking lots of vegetable juices. considering I now almost 70 yo I'm in pretty good health.
My improved living started when I was 51 yo. I tried doing it before that but could let go of the grog and it wasn't until I got to the AA program and with their assistance I could start being serious with my health.
Its not surprising considering I could hardly remember what you had just said to me.36 years of being a drunk sure does take its toll on ones health.
When I first got sober I was living in an old leaky caravan in the middle of a paddock no electricity or running water ( except for the creek about 100 yards away) toilet a hole in the ground 100 yards in the other direction.
The thing that I know is that if you can't stop the addiction no amount of healthy actions can help to stop it,atleast that is how it was for me. I stopped using tobacco 17 years ago but only after I was able to give the grog. I have a good life today I actually get to laugh as well as cry. No more cutting myself off from reality
