Here is some food for thought: Animals, standardized to 154 pounds/70 kilos, produce anywhere from 2,000 to 19,000 millgrams of PURE ascorbic acid, i.e. the molecule C6H8O6, every day of their lives. Is that synthetic? Virtually all plants and animals produce pure ascorbic acid [for themselves].

Rabbits, goats and rats (standardized to 154 pounds/70 kilos) all produce 13,000 to 19,000 milligrams of the ascorbic acid molecule for themselves EVERY day. Neither they nor we can consume anywhere near that amount of ascorbic acid from dietary sources. If they do not need such a large amount, I wonder why their liver's keep producing that amount for them? Under stress, one goat (standardized to 154 pounds/70 kilos) produced 100,000 milligrams of ascorbic acid for itself in one 24 hour period. At best, if we stuck closely to the "garden of eden" diet we MIGHT be able to ingest 1,000 to 2,000 millgrams of ascorbic acid through dietary sources every day, but that would be difficult indeed [living in society]. In my opinion, we [humans] are under much MORE stress than most animals are.

As "grist for your mill," I myself have taken a "bowel tolerance" dose http://www.orthomed.com/titrate.htm (in HEALTH, not illness) of ascorbic acid every day since 1994, amounting to, on average, 30,000 to 60,000 milligrams (approximately 1 to 2 ounces) in 5 to 10 divided doses (and will continue to do so for the rest of my life). My health is EXTREMELY good. I wonder when I am going to feel the negative effects of all this "synthetic" ascorbate consumption.
