Re: Too much vitamin C??

Congrats on quitting smoking. I've just done this myself and have been nearly a year without nicotine. It's such a huge monkey off my back, I won't go back for any reason (and fortunately don't even have pangs anymore).

Like yourself this has kicked in a new health consciousness in me that's fantastic, improving diet, exercize and doing proactive cleanses. Here's my one bit of obvious seeming advice though, but very true: Don't worry about anything else until you get the habit safely behind you.

I was maybe 25 pounds overweight when I quit smoking. I quickly piled on at least another 25 in the months that followed. I had to buy all new supersized shirts and pants. This was so dispiriting that along with the constant nicotene pangs I really came close to throwing in the towel. I was also trying a vegetarian diet (to mitigate the weight gain) and more exercize at the time and had about enough.

Someone I played tennis with sagely told me to not worry about the weight, it will come on and then go off again. Forget about special diets, new workout routines, etc. just focus on staying clean. Needless to say he was right on all counts. I've finally lost back all the gained weight and then some and can easily now concentrate on diets, workouts, cleanses and all the rest. But I know now that trying to do too much at one time was doomed from the start, and I'm really thankful I was able to regroup before throwing in the towel.
