I take Carlson's Cod Liver Oil. A bit more expensive but you don't have to worry about it being polluted with mercury. It is an excellent source of Omega-3 and other fatty acids that are good for one's nerves, brain, bones and skin. It also provides Vitamin A & D. Unless you are out in the sun a lot, most of us are deficient in Vitamin D. That is another trigger for osteoporosis and Arthritis pain.
About the taste -- if it is fresh, it tastes mild. The nasty bitter taste you remember is the taste of rancid oil. If it doesn't taste good, return it to the store!
