herpes and pregnancy

Here goes nothin':

Eventually, I want to have children (probably in the next couple of years). I had one(the first) outbreak in 2003, but was undiagnosed until 2005. (The first time around, I thought it was just a bad yeast infection and apparently so did my then-doctor--she just gave me a prescription for Diflucan and called it a day).

Since then, I have remained to the best of my knowledge, asymptomatic (and so has my partner who was having unprotected sex with me from that point to this). (And yes, I thank God, Mother Nature, etc, that I am asymptomatic).

Here are my questions:
1) Partner and I assume he has herpes too, by default (though I think he secretly hopes or thinks he doesn't since he doesn't have any symptoms. He has never been tested.) Is it possible we are both asymptomatic?

2) Given my asymptomatic status, will I have any problems getting (or staying) pregnant?

3) Is it safe to give vaginal birth when one has herpes if one doesn't have an outbreak at the time?

4) Can herpes in anyway leave me infertile?
