i thought selenium binds to mercury and inactivates it, as this process happens from the word go because you always have selenium in your body so it is almost the bodys natural defense to heavy metals. i could understand why not to take DMSA or EDTA as these substances are not readily avaliable from our foods, or found naturally in our bodies, and they do not as such inactivate or form a stable excretable compound out of the mercury the same as selenium does, they only shuffle it about a bit.
would i need to avoid all foods that contain selenium as well? if so surely i would become selenium deficient at the price of staying mercury abundant?
difinitive info required on the exact role of selenium with regards to certain heavy metals, ill se what i can find!
