Re: Qns for veteran bulimics...
I began my struggle with bulimia after I was diagnosed with Type I (insulin-dependent) diabetes when I was 13. I, too, vomited once a day for nearly 6 1/2 years. I took a break six months ago from the disease completely. It was a miracle; I had no desire to binge or purge whatsoever. But ultimately I relapsed and am almost back to where I had been in regards to frequency of vomiting.
I always brush my teeth immediately afterwards. Don't give the acid a chance to degrade your teeth.
I don't know how to calculate your metabolic rate without undergoing an expensive test not covered by insurance, but I do know that you can increase your metabolic rate by taking one tbsp of apple cider vinegar in 1/2 c water two or three times a day. Also, walking will increase your rate. Try not to get your heart rate above 130 and watch out for signs of discomfort (pounding heart, weakness, etc.). I am a nurse, not a doctor, so you need more medical attention. Good luck in your battle against bulimia. You do need it!
