Trapper's right
I totally agree with Trapper. Also, if you are young and have no assets you have even less to worry about. If you run up a hospital bill you can't pay, say $20,000 for an overnight stay, either they will work out payments for you (they're real generous that way) or they will get Medicaid to cover your bill.
Or you can do like everybody else and just walk out and owe them $20,000. It only stays on your credit report for 7 years. They can't put you in debtors prison.
Or you can take your medical business out of the country. I was in Costa Rica when my appendix blew out and I was in the hospital for a week. The bills for the doctor, hospital, ect totalled $3,500 which was less than my health insurance deductible! I put it on my credit card and thanked my lucky stars. AND I got better care than I've ever gotten in a US hospital.
That was an eye opener and I see now why wealthy or informed people seek medical care out of this country. Any place that has 80 pages of lawyers in the phone book is not a place where you'll find quality medical care.
